As registered NDIS providers, organisations like Beyond Limits Disability Services commit to adhering to the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, ensuring the highest standards of care and support. Here’s an overview of the main functions NDIS providers perform:

Support Planning and Coordination:
NDIS providers assist participants in developing individualised support plans that align with their goals, needs, and preferences. They coordinate with participants, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of services and monitor progress towards achieving the participant’s goals.

Delivering Services and Supports:
Providers offer a diverse range of services, including daily living assistance, community participation, skill development, supported independent living, respite care, therapeutic supports, and transport assistance. They tailor these services to the unique needs of each participant, ensuring they receive the right support to enhance their quality of life and foster independence.

Ensuring Quality and Safeguarding:
NDIS providers are required to comply with the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, which sets out guidelines and standards for delivering safe, high-quality support services. Providers must demonstrate their commitment to continuous improvement, uphold the rights of people with disabilities, and ensure that their staff is adequately trained and qualified.

FAQs

To access the NDIS, you must first check your eligibility based on age, residency, and disability requirements. If eligible, submit an application to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). Upon approval, you will work with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to develop a personalised support plan and receive funding for services.
Beyond Limits Disability Services can offer guidance and collaborate with you to establish your goals, understand your needs and preferences, and develop a support plan that prepares you for your NDIS meeting. We can communicate with you over the phone or meet at a location that suits you.
After the NDIS processes your Access Request Form, a Local Area Coordinator will get in touch with you to schedule a planning meeting. While you wait for this call, consider the support you require and your preferences for your plan. We are more than willing to assist you in organising your thoughts and preparing for the upcoming meeting.
An NDIS planning meeting can take place either face-to-face at a convenient location or over the phone with an NDIS Planner or Local Area Coordinator. During this meeting, you will discuss your goals and daily life, which is where your NDIS Planning Workbook comes in handy. If you wish, you can bring a family member, friend, or advocate to support you during the meeting. You will also be asked to choose a Plan Management Option, which determines who will manage your NDIS plan and funding. It might take multiple meetings to create a plan you feel comfortable with. After you and the Planner or Local Area Coordinator have developed a satisfactory plan, it will be submitted to the NDIS for approval. You will be notified of the decision shortly and can begin using your funding based on the approved plan.
An NDIS plan includes participant details, short-term and long-term goals, types of supports and services needed (core, capacity building, and capital supports), funding allocations for each support category, plan management options, and plan review dates.
To maximise your NDIS plan, actively participate in the planning process, set clear and realistic goals, understand your support needs, choose the right service providers, monitor your funding usage, and maintain open communication with your support coordinator or Local Area Coordinator.
Once your plan is approved, you’ll need to select service providers that align with your needs. Your Planner or Local Area Coordinator will provide you with an access code for myGov, allowing you to view your NDIS plan through the NDIS Participant Portal. Here, you can also access your budget, service bookings, and other NDIS-related information.

Your Planner or Local Area Coordinator will guide you through this process. You can opt to engage one or multiple service providers for the approved supports in your plan. Additionally, you must establish a service agreement with each provider.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to our friendly staff for advice and guidance on navigating the system.

HOW DOES NDIS COVER WORK?

The NDIS is designed to provide comprehensive support and funding for Australians living with disabilities. It aims to give participants more choice and control over the services they receive, helping them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. Here’s an overview of how NDIS cover works:

Eligibility and Application:
To access NDIS funding, individuals must first meet the eligibility criteria, which include age, residency, and disability requirements. Eligible individuals can then submit an application to the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to become an NDIS participant.

Planning and Assessment:
Once an individual’s application is approved, the NDIA will assign a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) or an NDIS planner to help develop a personalized support plan. This plan will outline the participant’s goals, needs, and preferences, as well as the supports and services required to achieve those goals. The planner or LAC will assess the participant’s needs and recommend the appropriate funding allocation.

Funding Approval and Allocation:
The NDIA reviews the participant’s support plan and, if approved, allocates funding to cover the required services and supports. Funding is divided into different categories, such as Core, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports, each covering different types of services.

Service Selection and Implementation:
Participants can choose the NDIS providers they wish to work with, giving them greater control over their support services. They can use their allocated funding to access the services outlined in their support plan, which may include daily living assistance, therapeutic supports, skill development, or respite care, among others.

Review and Adjustment:
NDIS plans are typically reviewed annually to ensure that the participant’s needs are being met and that their goals remain relevant. Participants, their families, and support providers can provide feedback on the progress made and any adjustments required. The NDIA may adjust funding allocations during these reviews based on the participant’s changing needs and circumstances.

What Does an NDIS Plan Look Like?

An NDIS plan is a personalised document that outlines the support and services required by an individual living with a disability. It is developed in collaboration with the participant, their family, and an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC). Each NDIS plan is unique to the individual, but generally, they share a similar structure and include the following components:

Participant Details:
This section includes basic information about the participant, such as their name, date of birth, contact details, and NDIS number. It also highlights any specific communication requirements the participant may have.

Goals:
The plan outlines the participant’s short-term and long-term goals, which are identified during the planning process. These goals help guide the support services and funding allocations within the plan.

Funding Allocation:
The plan specifies the allocated funding for each support category, based on the participant’s assessed needs. Funding is typically provided annually, and the participant can use these funds to access the services outlined in their plan.

Plan Management:
This section outlines how the participant’s NDIS funding will be managed, whether through self-management, plan management by a professional, or the NDIA managing the funds.

Supports and Services:
The NDIS plan details the different types of supports and services required to help the participant achieve their goals. These supports are usually divided into three categories:

a. Core Supports: Essential services that help with daily living activities, such as personal care, household tasks, and community participation.

b. Capacity Building Supports: Services aimed at enhancing the participant’s skills, independence, and overall capacity, such as therapy, skill development programs, and support coordination.

c. Capital Supports: Funding for assistive technology, equipment, and home modifications to improve the participant’s accessibility and independence.

Plan Review Dates:
NDIS plans are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to meet the participant’s needs and goals. This section provides the date for the next scheduled review and any additional information regarding the review process.
