What Is Community Access Support?
Community access – also called community participation – is NDIS support to take part in social, recreational, cultural and community activities. It can be one-to-one with a support worker or in a small group.
These supports are usually funded from your plan's Core – Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation budget. Capacity building supports such as Increased Social and Community Participation can help you build skills to do more independently.
Whether it's going to the gym, joining a club, attending a cultural or faith event, or learning to catch the bus, we support you to do it your way.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can community access funding be used for?
It can fund a support worker's time to help you take part in community, social and recreational activities. It generally doesn't cover entry fees, tickets, memberships or meals – these are usually personal expenses. Your plan and the NDIA's rules decide what can be funded.
Can I choose my support worker?
We work to match you with a support worker who suits your interests, personality and preferences. Let us know if a match isn't working and we'll look at other options.
Is community access available on weekends?
Yes, weekend and evening support is available, subject to staff availability and your plan's funding. Different price limits apply on weekends and public holidays.
What's the difference between community access and a day program?
Community access is usually one-to-one support to do activities you choose. A day program is a structured group program with a regular timetable. Many people use both.
